Express Entry is currently Canada’s program management system for its three Federal High Skilled legislation pathways, which include the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program, and the Canadian Expertise Class.
If you are qualified for Express Entry, then you will find a score based on the CRS, which awards points to get a candidate’s age, education, work experience, language ability in English or French, as well as many others.
Canada’s immigration section, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) regularly retains Express Entry draws, inviting the highest-scoring applicants to submit an application for permanent residence.
People who get the provincial nomination out of Alberta will automatically get an additional 600 CRS points added to their score. That usually means the invited candidates that have scores equal to the minimum requirement in this draw will get a new CRS rating of 901.
Alberta Express Entry Stream
This enhanced PNP is for Express Entry candidates who have strong ties to Alberta, or who will support the government’s economic development and diversification priorities. During the pandemic, Alberta is only considering candidates that are already living and working in the state.
Candidates also should have work experience in an eligible occupation. The AINP only provides a list of jobs that are ineligible to your stream’s requirements.
On November 1, 2020, the national government raised the number of jobs that are not eligible to apply for a Labour Market Impact Assessment at Alberta. However, candidates who received an invitation on or after November 1, 2020 may still be chosen through the Alberta Express Entry Stream, even if they are working in a job that the national government will not process an LMIA for.
Alberta was permitted to issue 6,250 nomination certifications in 2020. But, due to this coronavirus pandemic, the state reduced their allocation to 4,000 nominations. All these nominations were issued by June 2020, which is why there were no draws for the second half of this year.
The AINP hasn’t yet released the number of provincial nomination allocations for Alberta in 2021.
