    The express entry program is the flagship Canadian immigration program. It is the most famous and fastest way to apply for a Canada PR Visa. Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), and Canadian Experience Class (CEC) are three major federal immigration programs that are managed by the express entry program. It is a point-based program, to apply you have to meet the minimum points requirement.

    What is an Express entry points calculator?

    To get a PR Visa through express entry, you have to clear the minimum points cut-off. The express entry points calculator will help you to know your PR Visa points. There are two steps to apply for PR Visa via express entry program:

    Scoring a minimum of 67 points out of 100 in the FSWP point assessment grid is one of the minimum requirements to be eligible to create an express entry profile. FSWP point assessment grid assigns points based on the following factors:

    • Education – Maximum 25 points

      Once you score 67 points and meet other PR Visa requirements, you can create an express entry profile and get submitted into the express entry pool. That is where the CRS points calculator is used to know your latest CRS score.

      CRS point calculator is an important tool that allows a candidate to calculate the points that are required to immigrate to Canada under the Canadian government’s Federal Skilled Immigration Programs. Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points are awarded to applicants based on factors such as work experience, language proficiency, age, etc.

      Using these CRS points, candidate profiles are ranked in the Express Pool, which is the primary reason for using the Comprehensive Ranking System. To find out how many points one can get, they use the CRS point calculator. Applicants whose profile ranks highest in the Express Pool based on CRS points, receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) to apply for a permanent residence visa from Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

      What are the factors for getting the CRS points?

      CRS points calculator assigns points based on the below-mentioned factors:

      • Core Human Capital factors (includes language proficiency, education level, age, and work experience);
      • Factors related to the spouse / common-law partner (includes education, language skills, and work experience);
      • Skills transferability factors;
      • Bonus points (includes French proficiency, provincial nomination, arranged employment, siblings in Canada);

      The total of the above points awarded based on these factors comes to 1200 points. Using express draws organized regularly by IRCC, they can set the CRS score threshold and send out invitations to qualified and competent applicants.

      CRS calculator is a tool that will help you to check your CRS score for Canada PR Visa and know your chances of getting an ITA for Canada PR Visa.

        How does CRS work in the Express Entry Program?

        The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) is a ranking system, which designates express profiles, ranks in the express pool based on the points assigned to them. These points are awarded to applicants based on factors such as age, language proficiency, work experience, adaptability, educational qualifications, etc. The profile with the highest rank then receives an Invitation to Apply (ITA) to apply for a PR Canada visa.

        What are the options when not able to clear the CRS cut-off?

        For applicants who have applied through the Express Entry program and are unable to meet CRS’s limit for express draws, there are two other options through which they can apply for a PR Canada visa.

        The first option will be to go for provincial nomination programs. Through these programs, all provinces and territories in Canada can nominate qualified and capable immigrants for permanent residence in their province. Each PNP has different requirements and eligibility criteria based on local labor market demand. Some provincial applications require a low CRS score, some require applicants to have work experience in an occupation that is in demand in the province, and others require parents to live in the province as a permanent residence and must be willing to sponsor the request of the applicants.

        The second option will be to improve its CRS score. Applicants who are unable to meet the CRS threshold can reach the next one by improving their CRS scores. Some of the main points that can help them improve their CRS score are as follows:

        • If the applicant or his or her spouse has a sibling living in Canada as a permanent residence, showing a relationship with them may be awarded additional CRS points.
        • Improving their score on International English Language Testing System exams may result in applicants with more CRS points.
        • Applicants can try to gain more work experience in Canada.
        • If the applicants have only done their graduation, they can opt for a Master’s as it will get the maximum CRS points for the degrees.
        • Getting a provincial nomination grants applicants 600 CRS points. These many points make sure you get an ITA.
