OINP Draw: Analysis

The latest round of invitation, held across various streams, reflects Ontario’s continuous focus on addressing labour shortage across critical sectors particularly healthcare and education. By targeting Francophone, physicians and other regional pilot streams, Ontario aims to promote workforce distribution and support economic growth. Below is a detailed analysis of representation of total ITAs drawn under each of the streams:

❖  Healthcare and Early Childhood Education Stream

Healthcare and Early Childhood Education Stream is considered to be the most attractive stream in the OINP draw, as it invited a total of 1,635 applicants with a job offer in nursing, healthcare support, and early childhood education roles. Comparatively, the minimum scores have declined for both the foreign worker and international student streams from the last draw on February 2, 2026. The foreign worker stream targeted at least 6 occupations while the international stream under this category targeted at least 5 occupations.

❖  Francophone Stream

The next in line of attracting the maximum number of candidates after the healthcare and early childhood education stream was the Francophone stream, attracting a total of 146 applicants. The latest invitation was made across all three Employer Job Offer Streams, covering a range of occupations spanning business, technology, healthcare, education, trade, and manufacturing.

The invitations under the foreign worker stream targeted 46 occupations, international student stream targeted 29 occupations whereas in-demand skills stream targeted 11 occupations.

❖  REDI Pilot Stream

Regional Economic Development through Immigration (REDI) pilot stream is a dedicated pathway which targets candidates with job offers in Lanark, Leeds, and Grenville counties in Eastern Ontario. This stream was introduced to help smaller communities outside major urban centres to attract and retain newcomers. The stream targeted 32 ITAs under all three Employer Job Offer streams.

❖  Physicians Stream

The physician stream is one such stream that attracted the least number of invitations, i.e., 15 ITAs. To be eligible under this stream, candidates must have a job offer as a specialist in clinical and laboratory medicine (NOC 31100), specialist in surgery (NOC 31101), or a general practitioner and family physician (NOC 31102).

Whereas applicants who have received an ITA must submit their OINP application within 17 days.

Once the eligible candidates who have received provincial nomination from Ontario, can then apply for permanent residence (PR) with the federal government.

With a total of 8,171 total ITAs issued thus far in 2026, Ontario has presented a clear bifurcation of ITAs under each stream such as:

●    Foreign Worker Stream: 3,422 ITAs

●    International Student Stream: 3,464 ITAs

Ontario, one of the 10 provinces of Canada, has been continuously facing acute labour shortage in certain specific fields. In order to curb the ongoing demand of professionals, Ontario has thought of prioritizing professionals who can contribute to the Canadian economy. Skilled workers, international students and professionals with qualified skills who aspire to reside in the province and settle as permanent residents, must stay prepared by enhancing their language skills, accumulating more years of work experience can expect more dedicated healthcare and regional draws in the near future.
