The latest Express Entry draw marks the 49th selection round held by the IRCC since the beginning of the year 2026. After a gap of nearly 10 days, IRCC once again followed its recent Express Entry pattern by conducting invitations under the Provincial Nominee Program, Canadian Experience Class and French language proficiency categories.
The latest PNP draw issued 442 ITAs with a CRS score of 760, highlighting Canada’s continuous focus on attracting skilled professionals who can address regional labour market needs and contribute towards economic growth of the country.
Meanwhile, the latest CEC draw issued 1,000 ITAs with a CRS score of 523, marking the lowest number of invitations issued in a single Canadian Experience Class draw seen in 2026. At the same time, the CRS cut-off reached its highest level of the year, rising by a notable 7 points compared with the previous CEC draw on August 5, 2026, at a CRS score of 516. The 501–600 CRS band grew by 1,572 candidates between July 19 and August 16, reaching 18,657 profiles—a denser pool allowed IRCC to reduce volumes to 1,000 while still pushing the cutoff to its 2026 high of 523.
The final draw of the week, held under the French Language Proficiency category, issued 5,000 ITAs with a CRS score of 382, marking the lowest cut-off score since March 2025. The latest invitation had a cut-off nine points below the previous French language proficiency round, which was held on August 6, which had a CRS score of 391. With 50,500 ITAs across 10 draws, the French Language Proficiency category has now overtaken CEC (49,250 ITAs across 14 draws) as the single largest source of Express Entry invitations in 2026 — a remarkable milestone for Francophone immigration. The last draw also underlines IRCC’s continued emphasis on attracting French-speaking skilled professionals and strengthening Francophone communities across Canada outside Quebec.

With this, it can be witnessed that Canada has kept its entire focus on addressing professionals as per Immigration Level Plans 2026–28 requirements, inviting skilled and competent professionals who can directly contribute towards the country's economic growth. Thus far, till August 2026, IRCC has issued a total of 119,865 ITAs, approximately using 31.54% of the total target, i.e., the 380,000 permanent residency target for the year 2026.
According to the IRCC’s official data, as of August 16, 2026, the total number of candidates in the Express Entry pool is 226,859. Despite the competitive pool, regular Express Entry draws continue to provide ample opportunities to eligible candidates who aspire to work, live, and stay in Canada as permanent residents of the country. Eligible candidates who aspire to secure better job opportunities in Canada can take certain measures to improve their chances of receiving positive responses against their PR applications, such as:
● strengthening their CRS scores
● taking either English or French as their second official language
● retaking and improving their language scores
● having additional foreign work experience
● improving educational qualifications
● Taking the PNP program as an additional prospect (as it provides an additional 600 points to the CRS scoreboard)
