    Poland Study Visa

Poland is a well-known European country and a popular destination for international students, including Indians, seeking affordable yet high-quality education. With top-ranked universities, a rich cultural heritage, and a lower cost of living compared to Western Europe, Poland has become a preferred choice for higher education. If you’re planning to study in Poland, it’s essential to understand the process of obtaining a Poland study visa.

This comprehensive guide will provide you with every detail about the Poland student visa you need, from its eligibility requirements to its application process and why you should consider studying in Poland.

What is a student visa in Poland?

A Poland student visa is one of the unique visas issued to international students on a long-term academic program. Typically, most non-EU countries or the non-Economic European area require their citizens to acquire a student visa in cases involving higher education undertaken in Poland.

    Types of Poland study visas

Poland grants two different kinds of student visas. You must apply for a National Long-Term Visa (Type D), generally known as a student visa, if you want to stay longer than three months to continue your education.

This visa can be extended until the end of the study term and has a one-year expiration date.

Poland study visa requirements in 2025

You should fulfil the following requirements when applying for a student visa in Poland.

      1. Admission to a Polish institution

Being admitted or having evidence of admission to a Polish institute as a full-time regular student offered a bachelor's, master's, and PhD degree.

      1. Proof of financial stability

You must show sufficient funds to cover your tuition and accommodation and live in Poland. It may involve presenting relevant bank statements, award scholarships, or sponsorship letters.

      1. Language proficiency

A legitimate test of proficiency in either Polish or English - the TOEFL, IELTS, or a Polish certificate—is also necessary if that is the teaching language.

      1. Educational qualification

You need to attach certificates or diplomas from your previous academic qualifications to demonstrate your eligibility for this program. You might have had certificates or diplomas such as a high school diploma or bachelor's degree.

At least you will have to get health insurance covering 30,000 Euros, which would be valid within the borders of the Schengen area.

Step-by-step process to apply for a study visa in Poland

To apply for a study visa in Poland, follow the steps below.

      Step 1: Early preparations

Poland is part of the European Union; if you are a student of the European Union, then you don’t need a visa to study there. However, for Indian students or students from any other country, a Poland study visa is required. Manage all the necessary documents for your visa application process, setting up an appointment while applying for the universities.

Step 2: Apply at the University’s website

You can directly apply at the desired university’s website based on your chosen program.

      Step 3: Fulfill language requirements

To apply for study in Poland, you need to show your language proficiency.

      • PTE Academic
      • IELTS
      • TOEFL iBT
      • C1 Advanced

      Step 4: Final steps

No matter where you live, you must apply for temporary permanent resident status. Because your Master’s degree will run longer than three months, you must apply for residency.

You should also contact your university’s International Relations Office for information such as a medical certificate, driver’s license, insurance, etc.

      Polish student visa processing time

If the required documents and profile are submitted, the processing time for a Polish student visa might vary from 15 days for Type-C visas to 30-60 days for Type-D visas.

The application process is quick, but you should begin considerably earlier than when you depart. Processing periods may differ; if you have not provided all of your documentation, the process may occasionally be delayed.

You should start your application process three months before your enrollment date as soon as you receive your admission letter.
