Eligibility and Requirement for Germany Opportunity Card

1. Non-EU National
The Germany Opportunity Card is applicable for only non-EU nationals, i.e., nationals who are not citizens of the European Union. If you are a non-EU national, you can apply for the ChancenKarte Visa as a skilled worker.
2. Age
The Germany Opportunity Card can be applied if the applicant is between 18-60 years of age. The best suitable age criteria for the application is 18-40 but it doesn't mean that beyond 40, your chances of application decrease. During this course, the applicants receive minimal points in the grid section.
3. Work Experience
For the application of the Chancenkarte visa, the applicants with recognised degrees do not forcibly require work experience. However, having at least one year of experience makes profiles stronger, and applicants with more years of work experience play an upper hand while applying for the opportunity card.
4. Criminal Record
This forms the base for the Opportunity Card, as the applicant must not hold any criminal record against him while applying for the Chancenkarte visa.
5. Sufficient Funds
The Germany Opportunity card allows the applicants to have sufficient funds in a flexible manner. The German government requires 1027 euros per month as minimum living expenses. However, it is flexible to such an extent that applicants are allowed to apply for a 6-12 month stay, and for that you can make it count to the number of months applied. The German government requires 11,904 euros for a one-year visa application. Earlier applicants were required to have funds only in the Block Account, but now the German government has also allowed access to the present Savings Account.
6. Language Proficiency
The criteria of language proficiency does not apply in case 1, where there is no need to create a 6-point assessment task. However, in the 6-point management task, the applicant must be leveled according to the CEFR (The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) level, as it defines six levels of language proficiency, from A1 (Beginner) to C2 (Proficient). However, the applicant must have knowledge of German at level A1 or English on B2 level.
Process for Germany Opportunity Card
Application for the Germany Opportunity Card can be done through two major cases: a) applicants with a degree or diploma recognised by the German authorities and b) applicants with a degree/diploma recognised in the state they obtained it. Both ways are quite similar yet different in certain categories:
Case 1: Applicants with a German-Recognised Degree/Diploma
Case 1 applies when an applicant desires a Germany Opportunity Card and is equipped with a full-time degree or a two-year diploma and is acknowledged with German education. With this pathway, the applicants are free to apply for the card and find the best suitable job opportunity. With this process, the basic requirement is applicants should be between 18-60 years of age. The crucial aspect of this case applies:
a) Applicant’s academic degree should be qualified as H+ status on the Anabin database. Through this Anabin database, the German government assesses the educational qualifications and evaluates foreign university degrees and entitles the applicants as skilled workers and grants them an Opportunity Card without a point system.
b) Applicant’s vocational training or diploma should provide proof of recognition.
Case 2: Applicants with Degrees/Diplomas Recognised by the State
Case 2 applies when an applicant desires a Germany Opportunity Card, having a degree/diploma recognised by the state itself in which the applicant has pursued but not duly recognised by the German Central Office for Foreign Education (ZAB). During this course, the applicant is entitled to qualify for 6 points in the grid. The basic requirements under this case are the age factor and work experience. The applicant is also required to obtain knowledge of German at level A1 from the Goethe-Institut or knowledge of English at level B2, certified with an ALTE Q-mark.

How to Apply for Germany Opportunity Card
