The Student's pass is available to students enrolled in approved educational institutions, including colleges, universities, polytechnics, and private schools registered with Singapore's Committee for Private Education.

Types of Singapore study visas 

Singapore doesn’t offer various types of study visas, but the primary visa for international students is the Singapore student pass.  Based on the type of educational institution and the study program's duration, specific routes are set forth for different types of foreign students. 

Some variations or circumstances may also result in the issuance of a specific kind of Student Pass; these are listed below:

    The following Singapore study visa requirements for Indian students must be completed if you are an Indian student wishing to study there.   

    1. Admission into a recognised institution 

    You must be accepted into a full-time program at a university, polytechnic, or private school in Singapore approved by the Committee for Private Education (CPE).

    1. English language proficiency 

    You must prove English language proficiency through IELTS, TOEFL, or any other accepted language test, depending on the unique requirements of the educational institution. 

    1. Visa application

    You can apply for the student pass through Singapore's Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) utilizing the SOLAR (Student's Pass Online Application & Registration) system. 

    1. Visa application fee 

    The Singapore Study Visa Fee is payable; it is approximately SGD 30 for processing and SGD 60 for visa issues.  

    1. Medical examination

    A medical examination can be necessary if the treatment lasts more than six months. It is done to ensure that you are healthy enough to travel overseas. 

    1. Proof of financial capability 

    You must provide proof of funds to demonstrate your financial capability to cover your tuition fees and living expenses during your stay in the country.

    Singapore study visa process for Indian students 

    The following information explains the step-by-step application process for a Singapore Student Visa. 

    1. Step-by-step process 

    You must first apply for admission into a full-time course of study at an approved Singaporean institution to be eligible to apply for the Student's pass. Once you have been admitted, the institution will then proceed to register your solar Singapore student pass using the SOLAR system.

    1. Submission of online application

    Two forms, Form 16 and Form V36, are required for this procedure. After registering, you will receive a reference number via the SOLAR system. Use that reference number and your SOLAR access credentials to fill out Forms 16 and V36.

    1. Singapore study visa fees

    The SDG 30 (non-refundable) study visa cost for Singapore is now due. The application fee for a Singapore student visa must be paid at the time of student visa application submission.

    1. Submission of documents

    Now, you need to include the following supporting documentation with your application for a Singapore student visa. 

    • Passport, valid for at least three months from your intended date of departure.
    • Passport-sized photograph.
    • Admission letter from the institution in Singapore.
    • Proof of financial support.
    • Certificates attained during previous studies.
    • Documents that the institution may require.
    1. Await for decision 

    Depending on the situation, the student's pass processing time usually lasts two to four weeks. After being approved, you will receive an In-Principle Approval letter granting you the right to apply for a Singapore visa.  

    1. Get Your Singapore Student Pass 

    If your application is approved, you will receive a Singapore study visa. You must pick up your student pass at the ICA office within two weeks of your arrival in Singapore.  

    In some cases, a medical examination may be carried out at this stage, and an additional SGD 60 will be paid to provide the pass.
