Revised PTE Academic English Language Test Criteria for Australia Immigration
PTE Academic English Language Test score threshold has been increased for Australia Immigration, effective from August 7, 2025. The test score threshold has been increased for Competent, Proficient, and Superior levels.
Australian Immigration will now accept an updated version of the PTE English language test score applicable for applicants applying on or after August 7, 2025. However, the changes will not affect the test scores taken before August 6, 2025, and even the results may be valid for up to 3 years.
The immigration department has also increased the number of tests accepted for immigration as they will now also accept Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program General (CELPIP General), LANGUAGECERT Academic Test (LANGUAGECERT Academic), and Michigan English Test (MET), including Single Section Retake (SSR).
The PTE Academic score threshold has been increased in such a way:
Competent English
Before August 7, 2025

Expressions of Interest (EOI) submitted before August 6, 2025, will not get affected by these changes. Apart from these changes, Australian immigration will work with full force as before.
