TOEFL will now be acceptable for Canadian permanent residency applications

IRCC (Immigration, Refugee, and Citizenship Canada) will now accept a new language test, TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) as an essential test in future for Canada immigration.

English language proficiency tests were conducted in order to prove the language proficiency of candidates applying for immigration to Canada. Canada, with heart and soul, accepts applications from skilled professionals, international students and families to migrate to Canada and reside as permanent residents so as to later convert it to Canadian citizenship.

In order to apply for Canada PR, applicants ought to score at least 67 points on the point assessment grid, evaluating them on the basis of age, educational qualifications, work experience, and English language proficiency test score report.

On 21 August, the Education Testing Service (ETS)—the organization that administers the TOEFL—announced that it had been added as a designated language testing organization by IRCC.

This newly added test facility will now be applicable for certain immigration programs such as:

1.  Express Entry Program

●    Federal Skilled Worker Program

●    Federal Skilled Trades Program

●    Canadian Experience Class

 2.  Provincial Nominee Program

3.  Atlantic Immigration Program

 Understand TOEFL- the Language Test

TOEFL, another English language proficiency test, is determined to prove candidates ' fluency in the English language in order to migrate to Canada. The test will be evaluated under four modules - speaking, listening, writing, and reading through practical, task-based activities in order to reflect real-life communication. The duration of the test will be around 1.5 hours and the results will be outdrawn within six days.

 Present Scenario for Language Test

Presently, IRCC accepts various other language proficiency test score reports such as:

1.  Canadian English Language Proficiency Index program (CELPIP)

2.  International English Language Testing System (IELTS)

3.  Pearson Test of English (PTE Core)

Along these present tests, IRCC will now also accept TOEFL as an English language test, enhancing PR applications than before.
