Canada Express Entry Draws: In-depth Analysis

Canada continues to fast-track its immigration process through regular Express Entry draws, inviting skilled professionals under skilled migration categories to address labour shortages and support long-term economic growth. The latest invitation rounds reflects the country's continued focus on selecting candidates who can actively contribute to the Canadian labour market while helping provinces and employers fill critical workforce gaps.

The latest round for the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) invited candidates with a CRS score of 768, considerably higher CRS score than the other Express Entry categories. This is because candidates nominated by a Canadian province or territory receive an additional 600 CRS points, significantly boosting their Express Entry score and increasing their chances of receiving an invitation to apply (ITA) for permanent residency. The CRS cutoff of 768 is 24 points higher than the previous PNP draw on July 20 (CRS 744), signalling the PNP pool is growing as more candidates receive provincial nominations.

Meanwhile the invitation round for Canadian Experience Class (CEC) category issued 3,000 ITAs, inviting a considerable number of skilled workers with eligible Canadian work experience. The minimum CRS score for the draw was 516, remaining unchanged from the previous CEC draw held on July 21, 2026. However, the latest round invited 1,000 more candidates, increasing the total number of invitations from 2,000 in the previous draw to 3,000. This 50% increase in invitations from 2,000 in both July CEC draws to 3,000 in August, suggests IRCC may be scaling up draw volumes in the second half of 2026 to meet annual immigration targets.

The cut-off score of 516 for the Canadian Experience Class draw remains consistent with recent round invitations, where the minimum score has generally ranged between 500 to 520. This trend continues to create promising opportunities for skilled workers with a strong Express Entry profile and valid Canadian work experience. With 48,250 ITAs across 13 draws, CEC now accounts for 44.6% of all 2026 Express Entry invitations, making it the dominant pathway for skilled professionals with Canadian work experience, including Indian professionals on open work permits or PGWP

Eligible applicants who narrowly missed receiving invitation to apply (ITA), can improve their Express Entry profile and increase their chances of selection by taking following steps such as:

●    Improve language tests scores by retaking an approved English or French language proficiency tests

●    Gain additional skilled worker experience

●    Obtain provincial nomination as it adds additional 600 points

●    Pursue higher education qualification

●    Keep Express Entry profile updated with all the information and achievements accurately reflected

Impact on Prospective Immigrants from India

Thus far in 2026, IRCC has issued 44 Express Entry draws with 108,123 ITAs across various categories Provincial Nominee Program, Canadian Experience Class, French language proficiency, Trades, Physicians with Canadian work experience and many more. With frequent invitation rounds, it is expected from IRCC to issue more frequent draws in the future weeks of August and later in the year 2026, thus creating abundant opportunities for skilled professionals from India to immigrate, work, live, and settle in Canada in 2026. Eligible workers from India planning to immigrate to Canada, can take the above mentioned measures and update their Express Entry profile so as to receive positive response for their Canada PR application.

Lastly, the latest Express Entry draws reaffirm Canada’s commitment to welcoming skilled immigrants through a transparent and efficient immigration system. By issuing 3,507 invitations across two consecutive draws in the first week of August 2026, IRCC continues to strengthen its workforce while creating new opportunities for skilled professionals seeking permanent residence.
