Latest Express Entry Draws 2026: In-depth Analysis

The Express Entry invitation issued on July 22, 2026 under the French language proficiency category invited a significant pool of candidates, i.e., 5,000 candidates, making it the 41st selection of the year 2026. The latest French language proficiency draw issued its invitations at a CRS score of 399, a dip below the usual score of 400. This is not the very first time where invitations were issued at a score lower than 400, as the lowest has been recorded on March 18, 2026 where French-speaking candidates were invited at a score of 393. The lower CRS score of 399 also highlights Canada’s continuous efforts to encourage bilingualism in the country while offering more opportunities to the eligible candidates. The 21-point drop from CRS 420 (July 9) to CRS 399 (July 22) reflects pool expansion as IRCC issued the same 5,000 invitations in both rounds, but significantly more lower-scoring French language candidates entered the pool between draws, pushing the cutoff down.

Meanwhile, the other two significant draws held under the PNP and CEC category further highlight Canada’s intention of inviting candidates through targeted immigration categories rather than conducting broad all- program Express Entry draws. The 511 PNP invitations reflect the entire available PNP pool above CRS 600 as IRCC invited every eligible PNP candidate in this score range, signalling strong PNP demand and a relatively shallow PNP pool at this stage of 2026. These invitations also demonstrate Canada’s strategy to balance regional labour needs, retain experienced temporary residents, and to increase the number of French speaking immigrants in the country.

The highlight of these draws were the introduction of the Skilled Military Recruits category which was invited for the first time under the Express Entry system since its introduction in February 2026. It also reflects the lowest number of invitations ever issued in an Express Entry draw, i.e., 4 ITAs with a CRS score of 368.

Over the course of 2026, as of July 23, IRCC has issued 42 Express Entry draws and 104,616 ITAs thus far under different categories. Below mentioned is a clear representation of total Express Entry draws held thus far with their corresponding total number of ITAs against each category.

The above representation illustrates Canada’s continued focus on inviting candidates under the CEC category, which accounts for approximately 43% of the total invitations issued thus far in 2026. This approach reflects the country's aim to retain its experienced temporary residents who are already contributing to the Canadian labour market, as they can integrate more quickly and cost-effectively than the newly arrived immigrants.

What to Expect Next ?

Considering the latest Express Entry trends and immigration patterns in 2026, additional Express Entry draws are expected in the upcoming weeks. It is expected that Canada will prioritize the category based selections particularly for the Canadian Experience Class (CEC)  and French language proficiency category as the country is walking towards meeting its annual immigration targets.

July 2026 has established a two-cluster draw model — a first cluster (July 6–10) and a second cluster (July 20–22), each following the same PNP → CEC → French sequence. If this pattern holds in August, candidates can plan around predictable draw windows approximately 10–14 days apart.

As of July 19, 2026, the Express Entry pool contains 231,533 candidates, down from 235,127 on July 5, reflecting the impact of July's draws on the pool.

Lastly, these four consecutive Express Entry draws reaffirm Canada’s commitment of attracting skilled professionals so as to address its labour shortage needs while strengthening its economical needs. With total 42 draws in 2026, and 15,549 invitations alone in July, prospective immigrants from India should keep their Express Entry profiles up to date and monitor future invitation rounds to maximise their chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) in 2026.
