The westernmost province, Alberta, also known as the “ energy province,” is home to over 4 million people and is still growing. Due to its geographical benefits, its economic worth is no less than a million bucks.

Alberta's prominence has reached new heights due to its oil and gas industry. Gearing its economic growth, Alberta has now become one of the attractions for the Canadian Permanent Residency Program.

Known for its high standard of living, Alberta's immigration program has surged in the past few years. The Alberta Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) provides a pathway for immigration. Understanding the program is necessary before applying, so let’s go step-by-step for applicants to attain a Canadian Permanent Residency Visa.

Understanding PNP- Provincial Nominee Program - An Overview

Provincial Nominee Program is essentially a special program that allows skilled workers to legally immigrate to foreign lands. Every province and territory operates the PNP to welcome skilled workers from all over the world to help strengthen their economies.

Under Canada’s Constitution, the federal government and each province share the authority to manage the immigration system. Through this, the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) is one such platform that allows individuals to immigrate to Canada. This program not only helps individuals with their growth but also helps countries build their economies at ease.

The Alberta Provincial Nominee Program is one such program that helps individuals to immigrate to Canada in the best yet fastest way.

    Understand Your Score

Alberta has revised its PNP program points grid intending to attract more applicants to their country. The PNP evaluates you on broadly two grounds Human Capital Factors, which hold 69 points, such as educational qualifications, language proficiency, work experience, and age, and Economic factors which hold 31 points. The Alberta PNP allows you to score at least 67 out of a possible 100 to get a PR visa. These points can be understood likewise:

    Human Capital Factors

    1.    Education - 22 Points

Education has been an indispensable part of human life. It not only makes one independent but also worthy of human life. Alberta PNP points calculators help you score the maximum points if you have a doctorate, which is 12 points. Whereas having a high school diploma provides you with the least points. This could better be understood in the following manner.

    2.    Language - 13 Points

Understanding the language where you live is always a lifesaver. Alberta PNP evaluates both English and French proficiency. The applicant must have proficiency of at least Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 4 for English or Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadien (NCLC) 4 for French.

    3.    Work Experience - 21 Points

The Alberta PNP Program has now placed more importance on work experience. If you have work experience in Canada and abroad for more than 12 months, then it gives you 11 points, whereas 7 points for 6-11 months and 3 points to less than 3 months.

Another scenario gives points based on work experience based on Canada. If you have been working in Alberta for more than 6 months, then you will get 10 points, and 6 points when you have more than 6 months of experience in another province of Canada and not in Alberta

    4.    Age - 5 Points

As a prominent youth has been considered an asset to the country, the PNP grabs the younger generation to strengthen their economy. The younger generation enjoys all the points till 34 years, which gives you 5 points, but certainly after 50, your chances decrease as you age.

    5.    Family Connection - 8 Points

Points awarded for having a family member living in Alberta who is a Canadian Citizen or permanent resident over 18 years of age give you maximum points in the scoreboard. Certainly, the family member must be the applicant’s parents, sibling, or child, but it does not get applied to any other family connections.

    Economic Factor

    1.    Alberta Job Offer - 16 Points

The applicant can score a maximum of 10 points if one has a job offer for permanent full-time employment in Alberta. Whereas it secures 6 points when the applicant works in select Alberta rural communities or sectors.

Human Capital factors and Economic factors are mainly two broad categories that help the Alberta Provincial Nominee Program choose immigrants to move in an ethical way. Alberta has remained an epicenter for immigration. Their epicentre helps applicants reach their destination on time without fail. The Alberta PNP Program provides applicants a strategic opportunity to make Alberta your home.
