The latest CEC draw, with an invitation to 8,000 candidates, is considered to be the second largest in the history of CEC draws. The first one was being done in Covid-pandemic era, where 27,000 candidates were invited under the Canadian Experience Class category with a CRS score of 75. With the huge number of invitations under CEC category and that too in the beginning of the year 2026, highlights Canada’s intention to bring forward the candidates with Canadian work experience so as to strengthen Canada’s economy and labour market. According to Canada's Immigration Level Plan for 2026-2028, Canada vowed to invite numerous applications for permanent residency and with this latest CEC draw they are presently moving ahead in the same direction. With their intention to increase their economic immigration target which will be fruitful for their economy, they issued ITAs for candidates who have Canadian work experience and have determination to settle in the country as Canada permanent residents.

With the first full week of January, IRCC has already issued more than 8,500 ITAs underlining the need of skilled and qualified professionals in the country. With the commitment of prioritizing in-Canada  applicants for permanent residency, Canada’s immigration policies will invite more candidates for permanent residency in the year 2026.
