Understand Level of French Language Proficiency 

Canada accepts various language proficiency tests such as IELTS, CELPIP, TOEFL, and TEF. TEF (Test d'évaluation de français) is one such language proficiency test for the French language. It estimates applicants’ proficiency over 4 modules, Reading, Writing, Speaking, and Listening. It ranges from A1- beginner level to C2- proficient level. To be eligible for Canada PR, the French language proficiency level required is equivalent to CLB 7, corresponding to a level B2 level on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) or score 7 in all 4 language abilities on the Niveaux de compètence linguistique canadiens (NCLC).
