Western Australia Skilled Occupation List and State Nomination Programs are two major routes which allow PR to skilled professionals. By State Nomination Programs, Western Australia come up with two visa subclasses:
● Skilled Nomination Visa subclass 190
● Skilled Nomination Regional (Provision) visa Subclass 491
Eligibility Criteria for Western Australia Skilled Migration Program
Western Australia has some requirements to must be followed by the applicant in order to become eligible for the Skilled Migration Program. Certain eligibility requirements are as follows:
● The applicant must be under 45 years of age.
● The occupation applied by the applicant must be listed on the Western Australia Skilled Occupation List.
● A positive response from the Australian Skills Assessment Authority for the nominated occupation.
● Applicant must meet the English Language Proficiency requirements, such as IELTS (Band 6), PTE (50) score in all four modules.
● Applicant must score at least 65 points or more on the point assessment grid, including state nomination points, i.e, 5 points and regional nomination, i.e,15 points.
● Relevant work experience in the same field as the nominated occupation.

State Nomination Migration Programs
State Nomination Migration Programs are generally programs that allow applicants to migrate to Western Australia only when states nominate applicants for permanent residency.
State Nomination Migration Programs allow state nominations under two visa subclasses:
● Skilled Nominated Visa (Subclass 190)
● Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Visa (Subclass 491)
Skilled Nominated Visa (Subclass 190)
Subclass 190 is a unique skilled nominated program eligible under the State nomination program, as applicants can apply for this visa only when they have a prior nomination from an Australian state or territory. This subclass visa brings in an added advantage of 5 points to be added to the 65 point assessment grid.
Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Visa (Subclass 491)
Subclass 491 is also a nomination program under the State nomination program, as applicants can apply for this visa when they have a nomination from the regional states of Western Australia. This subclass visa brings in 15 points to the assessment grid during application.
State Nomination Migration Program is entitled to permit applicants for permanent residency through two major subclasses, i.e, Subclass 190 and 491. These subclasses also enacted, through the occupation list mentioned under the Western Australia Skilled Occupation List as:

How to Apply Western Australia Skilled Migration Program
Western Australia Skilled Migration Program demands a structured route so as to attain PR. So as to achieve PR through this visa program follow such steps:
Check Eligibility
Before applying for a Western Australia Skilled Visa Program, the applicant must ensure the eligibility section such as:
● 65 points on the point assessment grid(must have 5 points for the state nomination or 15 points for the regional nomination)
● Occupation to be listed on WASMOL schedule 1 or schedule 2.
● Skill assessment report
● Age of the applicant must be below 45 years
● Valid work experience especially in the same field of the occupation nominated
English language proficiency test report
Submit EOI
Once eligibility criteria is found to be on a positive note, submit EOI (Expression of Interest) in the SkillSelect. EOI ensures the applicant’s motive and purpose behind the immigration. EOI comprises necessary documents required for application such as skill assessment report, nominated occupation to be listed on the WASMOL schedule 1 or schedule 2 list, and English language test score. SkillSelect assesses the documents of the applicant to ensure they meet Australian skilled labour needs.
Invitation Received
Once the EOI has been submitted, applicants are bound to wait for the invitation.
Apply State Nomination
Once an invitation is received, applicants are bound to apply for the state nomination for their profile. Applicants have a limited period of time, i.e., 28 days, to respond to the Department of Home Affairs.
Application Assessment
After state nomination, the applicant's application moves through an assessment process which requires them to meet the Western Australia State nomination criteria.
Nomination in SkillSelect
Once the applicant’s assessment is being approved, Western Australia Services will nominate the applicant's profile into SkillSelect. This will bring an invitation from Home Affairs to submit an application.
Apply for Visa
After an invitation is received, apply for the selected visa through Home Affairs’s online portal.
Register your Arrival
The last step of this process is the registration of the applicant's arrival with the Western Australia Migration Services. Applicants are bound to register prior to their departure as it implies moving to Western Australia within 3 months of receiving the visa.
