The first Express Entry round of invites in more than a month was held by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). In an all-program draw, 3,200 invites were given out to applicants. An invitation to apply (ITA) needs a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 531.

This summer saw more Express Entry drawings than in previous years as a result of the introduction of invitations to category-based selection rounds. However, after the most recent all-program draw on August 15, in which 4,300 applicants earned ITAs, no draws have been held until today.

The IRCC has not given a justification for the break-in drawings. On September 18, it said that Express Entry drawings would resume this week.

    What is Express Entry?

The Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program, and the Canadian Experience Class are three of Canada’s most popular economic immigration streams. Express Entry is an application management system for these three programs.

Although the qualifying requirements for each Express Entry program vary, all of them employ the Comprehensive Ranking System to analyze and rank applicants. In order to achieve this, it assigns ratings to many aspects of human capital, including language proficiency, age, job experience, occupation, and education. The chances of receiving an invitation to apply for permanent residence status in Canada are greatest for those with the highest CRS scores.
Candidates for Express Entry who have been nominated by a province are considerably more likely to be sent an ITA. This is due to the fact that applicants for Express Entry who are also Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) participants are automatically awarded an additional 600 CRS points. This is fortunate since, depending on the program or category, the CRS score for the majority of Express Entry draws ranges from 350 to 550.
