Factors Affecting AAIP Draws in 2026

According to the latest trends followed in the AAIP draws, Alberta will prioritise occupations tied to healthcare, technology, construction, manufacturing, aviation, agriculture, as well as communities designated under the Rural Renewal Stream. However, Alberta also emphasis that the draws are not scheduled and these factors are not the deciding factors, it may include some other factors such as:

❖  Work experience in a priority occupation;

❖  Working as a licensed physician in Alberta; or

❖  Being a francophone newcomer looking to immigrate to the province.

Alberta reports a total of 405 invitations issued with allocated 6,403 invitations, with remaining 5,964 spaces as of February 5, 2026. According to the Alberta official statements, the Federal Government of Canada has also retained several extra immigration spots up to 10,000 for two groups in all the provinces. The extra immigration spots for two major groups are as follows:

❖  Practice-ready physicians

❖  Francophones communities
