Work and Holiday in Australia with Subclass 462

Australia is the dream country for many skilled professionals in India, and every year, many Indians immigrate to Australia through its unique immigration programs. One of those immigration programs is the Australia Visa Subclass 462, also known as the Work Holiday Visa Program.

The Australian Immigration Authorities introduced a Ballot process under the Working Holiday Maker Program to help individuals migrate to Australia to study or work while on holiday. Applicants become eligible to stay in Australia for 12 months from the date it is granted. India, China, and Vietnam are a part of the ballot system under this immigration program.

Registrations for new visas are now open for Program Year 2025-26, and will remain open for 3 weeks, from June 23 to July 15  2025.

If you are interested in applying for this program, this guide is for you. Here, we will provide all the information about this work holiday visa.

What Is A Working Holiday Visa Australia 462?

The Work and Holiday visa is a type of temporary visa that allows individuals to migrate to Australia and live, earn, and study in Australia while on vacation. This visa program allows applicants to earn during their stay and take up a short-term study course, which is valid for 4 months in a course of 12 months of stay in Australia.

As a part of a ballot visa, also known as a pre-application, the Australian Government put up visa applications from high-demand visa countries- India, China, and Vietnam. Commenced in 2004, this visa ballot process allows transparency in selecting random applications from partner countries.

Many applicants now obtain a Subclass 462 visa annually after it was launched in 2003 to enable more nations to participate in the working holiday visa 462 Australia program.
