The UK-India Young Professional Scheme, also known as the YPS 2025 ballot, is all set to start from february 18 to february 20, 2025. This visa program is going to offer 3000 Indian nationals a chance to live, work, study, and travel in the United Kingdom for upto two years.

However, candidates planning to enrol in this program are required to register their profiles for the ballot process by visiting the official UK government website. Additionally, the entry for the ballot is entirely free of cost, and successful candidates will be selected randomly.

What is the UK Young Professional Scheme?

The UK Young Professional Scheme (YPS) began in 2023. It is a two-way scheme through which eligible professionals between the ages of 18 and 30 years from both nations can reside, work, study, and travel to other countries for up to two years.

The YPS scheme is part of the Migration and Mobility Agreement, which was signed in 2021. The agreement caps the number of professionals entering either of these countries at 3,000 per year.

Eligibility criteria for the UK Young Professional Scheme

To be eligible for this scheme, the candidates must fulfill the following criteria:

    • Age: The age of the candidate must be between 18-30 years on the travel date.
    • Education: You should have a valid bachelor's degree or higher, which should be equivalent to a UK degree.
    • Savings: The applicants need to provide £2,530 as savings to support themselves during their stay in the UK.
    • Nationality: The candidates should be an Indian citizen

Additionally, candidates should ensure that they meet all the eligibility requirements before entering the ballot.

Application process of the YPS Scheme

For a successful application, candidates are required to meet the following process:

    1. Ballot Entry

Interested candidates should visit the official website of the UK government during the prescribed date to enter the ballot. Entry is free of cost. However, candidates should be aware of cautious, fraudulent agents or agencies promising visas in exchange for money.

    1. Notification

Shortlisted applicants will be informed via email within two weeks of the final date of the ballot.

    1. Visa Application

On notification, the applicants will have 90 days to:

    • Apply for a visa.
    • Give biometric details.
    • Pay the visa application fee (£298) and immigration health charge.

Applicants have to return to India after remaining two years in the UK on this scheme.

What steps to take after the ballot?

The chosen applicants will be emailed within two weeks of the ballot closing, and they will be asked to apply for a visa.

Once contacted, candidates have ninety days to complete the online visa application, provide their biometrics, and pay all fees, including the visa application fee and immigration health surcharge.

The last day of the 28 days during which candidates must have the necessary funds in hand is 31 days before they apply for their visa.

The chosen participants are required to return to India after living there for two years. According to the latest figures, more than 2,100 YPS visas were granted to Indian nationals in 2023.

    Conclusion

The UK-India Young Professional Scheme 2025, or the YPS 2025 ballot, will give 3000 Indian citizens the opportunity to live, work, travel, and study in the UK for up to two years. The requirements are age, education, savings, and nationality.

The program is part of the 2021 Migration and Mobility Agreement. Eligible people must apply on the UK government portal, pay the application fee, and return to India after living there for two years.
