How to Convert a Work Visa into Australian PR

Want to live and thrive in Australia but can't figure out the pathway to obtain Australian permanent residency. Then a work visa could lead you to your destination. Obtaining an Australia PR visa is not child’s play in this complicated world scenario, yet it can be achieved by following strategies.

Skills in Demand visa Subclass 482 is a pathway through which anyone who has a job offer can apply for an Australian PR visa. By walking through subclass 482, the applicant is invited to work and live in Australia for the period of 4 years. The subclass 482 visa was introduced as a temporary visa entitled to quench the thirst of skilled labourers in the Australian labour market. With this visa, the employer living in Australia can invite applications to fill his labour requirements. 482 visa holders are eligible to convert to PR after residing in Australia for at least 3 years.

Obtaining an Australian PR visa through subclass 482 is much easier than other cases as the applicant is already working and living in Australia for more than 3 years. Being on the advantageous side, the applicant can apply for an Australian PR visa through various cases, such as by applying through Subclass 186, Subclass 189, Subclass 190, and Subclasses 309 and 100.

Conversion of Work Visa to Permanent Residency.

The subclass 482 visa allows the applicant to obtain PR via applying through different pathways:

1.   Subclass 186

Also known as the Employer Nomination Scheme Visa, this visa is competent enough to convert a work visa into a permanent residency visa. With this visa type, the applicant is being nominated by an approved designated Australian employer. Subclass 482 visa holders can apply for PR by getting nominated under an approved Australian employer using Subclass 186 as an extension to permanent residency. Under this visa type, the applicant must be approved by the Skill Assessment Authority.

2.   Subclass 189

The subclass 189 visa, otherwise called the Skilled Independent Visa, is one of the major breakthroughs in the process of obtaining Australian PR residency. Importance to the skills regardless of any sponsorship from the state or the employer highlights the need of skills in the Australian market. Subclass 482 visa holders can become eligible for Australian PR if they possess certain skills required for the occupation specified in the Australian Skilled Occupation List.

3.   Subclass 190

Regarded as the Skilled Nominated Visa, the Subclass 190 visa invites applicants based on their skills selected and nominated by the state or territory of Australia. With this visa class, the applicant has to sit in the pool of selection, calculating 65 points in the point assessment grid; their occupation is to be mentioned on the Australian Skilled Occupation List. Subclass 482 visa holders who qualify for the 65-point segment and their occupation is being listed are entitled to Australian PR quickly.

4.   Subclass 100

Also known as the Permanent Partner visa, the applicant is supposed to be a subclass 309 holder, which is a temporary partner visa. With this visa type, the applicant must be a subclass 309 holder before converting it to a permanent partner visa subclass 100. For Subclass 309, the applicant’s partner must be already an Australian PR holder.

Obtaining an Australian PR visa can be time-consuming, but these pathways can make the way to permanent residency easier and quicker. Subclass 186, Subclass 189, and Subclass 190 are all different routes to an Australian PR visa, demanding different requirements and thus merging into the sole motive of obtaining an Australian PR visa.
