Fourth month of the year with fourteen draws, April remained an active month of the year for Canadian immigration. Eight of Canada's provinces conduct major draws, inviting skilled professionals from across the globe.
With a total of 6,585 issued in the month of April, it highlights Canada’s continued focus on addressing labour shortages across various sectors while strengthening its workforce through provincial nominations. From tech professionals to healthcare workers, provinces have targeted in-demand occupations to meet regional needs. With these invitations, each of the eight provinces has laid a pathway for prospective immigrants to secure Canada permanent residency. Below is a clear representation of each of Canada’s provinces with its invitations across its dedicated streams and pathways.
- Ontario – OINP Draw
Ontario holds the maximum number of draws, i.e., four draws, in the month of April. The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) issued a total of more than 4,800 ITAs (Invitation to Apply) across different streams and pathways.
Across four of its draws, Ontario remained focused on inviting professionals across different sectors such as mining, construction, healthcare, francophone, agriculture, and other priority sectors. Second on the list is Alberta, inviting a total of 630 ITAs across various streams with its focus on professionals from the healthcare, technology, and skilled trades sectors. Alberta PNP's latest draw issued invitations through the AAIP (Alberta Advantage Immigration Program) program, inviting skilled professionals who aspire to immigrate to Canada and settle as residents. Last on the list is British Columbia with only 14 ITAs invited to settle in the province of Canada. The invitations were issued under the Entrepreneur Immigration category, where candidates were selected for their ability to start a new business or take over and grow an existing business in British Columbia.

This was the list of total PNP draws held in the month of April, inviting professionals across different occupations. The consecutive 8 draws with Ontario with the maximum number of draws highlight the increasing demand for professionals in the provinces of Canada. This move was also considered crucial for reducing the concentration of immigrants in a specific part of Canada. While it paves the way to equal distribution of immigrants, Canada’s immigration level plan addresses labour shortages. According to Canada's immigration level plan 2026-2028, the country also planned to increase its permanent residency target through the provincial nominee program at a set target of 95,000 applications. These draws are considered to be the positive pathways for professionals who aspire to immigrate to Canada.
Lastly, April remained a highly active month for Canadian immigration so as to invite professionals based on Canada’s labour needs. These frequent draws with bigger invitations, Canada is all set to achieve its long-term targets while strengthening the economy.
