Eligibility Requirements for the Atlantic Immigration Program

❖ a valid job offer from a designated employer in Atlantic Canada.
❖ must be a recent graduate of a recognised post-secondary institution in Atlantic Canada.

Work Experience
Work experience is considered an important aspect while applying for the Atlantic immigration program. Well, the duration and type of work experience required for the program is detailed below:
❖ Have a qualifying work experience i.e., in the last 5 years, the applicant must have worked at least 1,560 hours.
❖ Work experience calculated must be earned in any of the jobs listed in the National Occupational Classification (NOC) under the TEER 0,1,2,3, or 4 category.
❖ The work must be valid and full-time as volunteering and unpaid internships do not count to the work experience.
International Graduates
International students are also among those eligible candidates who wish to secure jobs in the Atlantic regions after finishing their studies in Canada. Some of the requirements if an international graduate applying for the program are:
❖ Has a degree, diploma, certificate or trade or apprenticeship certification that:
1. took at least 2 years of study
2. is from a recognised post-secondary institution in 1 of the 4 Atlantic provinces
❖ was a full-time student for the entire time of studying.
❖ lived in one of the following provinces for at least 16 months during the last 2 years before graduation.
❖ has the visa or the permit the applicant needed to work, study or get training while the applicant is in Canada.
Educational Requirements
Eligible applicants, while applying for the AIP program are also required to hold a certain level of education depending upon the TEER category of the job offer applied by the applicant. The educational requirements are:
❖ For the Job under TEER 0 or 1 category
the applicant must have a Canadian one year post secondary
❖ For the Job under TEER 2, 3 or 4 category
The applicant must have a Canadian high school diploma
Language Proficiency
Language proficiency has been considered a vital aspect under immigration process. Canada, being a bilingual country, accepts both English or French for the language proficiency test reports. The acceptable language proficiency tests can either be:
● CLB (Canadian Language Benchmark)
● NCLC (Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadiens)
The minimum language requirement for each of the jobs listed under the NOC TEER category
❖ CLB/ NCLC 5 for jobs under TEER 0, 1, 2 or 3
❖ CLB /NCLC 4 for TEER 4
Sufficient Funds

Candidates applying for the program can be living abroad or staying in Canada as a temporary resident.
Essential documents required for the Atlantic Immigration Program
Skilled and competent professionals or international students who wish to apply for the Atlantic Immigration Program and want to settle in one of the 4 Atlantic provinces of Canada and later settle as permanent residents of Canada, are required to submit certain essential documents, which are as following:

❖ Valid passport
❖ Identity documents
❖ Photographs (either colour or black and white) (within 12 old months of application)
❖ Confirmation of provincial endorsement
❖ Letter of employment (to be duly signed by the employer and sent to the applicant)
❖ ECA (Educational Credential Assessment) report
❖ Language proficiency score report

❖ Proof of living in the province (applicable for recent graduates)
❖ Proof of status (applicable for recent graduates)
❖ Proof of relevant work experience
❖ Proof of funds
❖ Proof of temporary resident status (applicable for applicants staying in Canada)

How to Apply for Canada Permanent Residency Through the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP)

Step 5: Submit Application
Once the applicants have submitted the application fee, applicants are required to submit the visa application with the documents. While submitting the application, applicants will also receive a confirmation of submission once all the documents and the application is being submitted. This confirmation is kept as a record for further use.
Step 6: Wait for the Response
After submitting the visa fee, applicants are required to wait for the visa response as each application is being processed by the immigration or IRCC officers. And if a positive response is received, the applicant will receive status as a permanent residence of Canada.
