Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) 2021

Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) is an immigration pathway for skilled immigrants to settle in Saskatchewan as permanent residents. Saskatchewan PNP allows the province to nominate skilled workers and international students to live and work in the province as permanent residents and help in the economical development of the province.

Why Choose Saskatchewan?

The Province of Saskatchewan has a diverse and active immigration program that is a response to the province’s growing economy. Among the provinces of Canada, Saskatchewan has the highest economic growth that is mainly based on agriculture and mining industries. Following are some of the main reasons that can help you to choose Saskatchewan to live in as a PR visa holder:

  • Many Job Opportunities: Saskatchewan has the lowest unemployment rate at 3.9% with the national average for unemployment rate set at 7%.
  • Higher Wage: Average salary in the province is around CAD 970, which is the third-highest in Canada.
  • Immigrants friendly Policies: Saskatchewan’s Immigration program – SINP is designed and implemented in a way that provides the pathway to PR status in the province easy and transparent.
  • Free access to Govt. Services: Provincial government of Saskatchewan provides it, permanent residents or citizens, with the following services – Cognitive Disability Strategy (CDS) Support, Free Monthly Child Care Subsidy, Home Repair Program, Saskatchewan Employment Supplement (SES), Seniors Income Plan (SIP).

Also, SINP gives the applicants assistance in all aspects of the nomination program that includes program requirements and processes with competitive application processing time.

Overview of SINP

Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program – SINP is a provincial nomination program for the province of Saskatchewan that allows the province to select/nominate skilled immigrants to live in the province as permanent residents. These immigrants are selected based on the required skill-sets in the labour market of the province so that they will be able to help in the economic development of the province.

There is a total of four sub-categories under SINP:

  • International Skilled Worker Category – For skilled immigrants who wish to settle and work in the province. Following are the sub-categories:
    • International Skilled Worker: Employment Offer
    • International Skilled Worker: Occupation In-Demand
    • International Skilled Worker: Saskatchewan Express Entry
  • Saskatchewan Experience Category – For immigrants who are currently working and living in the province. Following are the sub-categories:
    • Existing Work Permit
    • Health Professionals
    • Hospitality Sector Project
    • Long Haul Truck Driver Project
    • Students
  • Entrepreneur and Farm Category – For entrepreneurs looking to run their own business in Saskatchewan and for experienced farmers to buy and operate their farm in the province
  • International Graduate Entrepreneur Category – For International Students that have graduated from a post-secondary institution in the province and are planning to start their business in the province.

Like other PNPs, SINP also has an “enhanced” stream that is in line with the Express Entry Program. SINP’s International Skilled Worker: Express Entry sub-category allows the province to search for skilled immigrants with required work experience in the federal government’s express pool. Once an express entry candidate gets the provincial nomination certificate, they are awarded 600 CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) points.

Innovative Changes in SINP

Positive changes have been made in the SINP’s most famous stream – International Skilled Worker (ISW) category. This category allows the province to target the immigrants with skill-sets or work experience in an occupation that is in demand in the province. Earlier applications were submitted within a brief period of intake; this has been replaced by the Expression of Interest (EOI) system. This system allows the eligible candidates to submit their profile in the pool and improve their profile while standing in the pool to get the Invitation to Apply (ITA).

Also, SINP has replaced their list of eligible occupations – known as the In-Demand Occupation list with a list of excluded occupations instead. This led to an increase in the number of eligible occupations to 218.

What are the requirements to apply for SINP?

Every category under SINP has different requirements that allow them to select immigrants with the required credentials. Here, we will discuss the basics of SINP’s International Skilled worker immigration category.

For candidates to be eligible to apply under International Skilled Worker: Saskatchewan Express Entry they are required to meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Must score a minimum of 60 points out of 110 in SINP Point Assessment Grid;
  • Need to take a language test that meets the Express Entry language requirements with minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 5;
  • Must complete post-secondary education, training, or apprenticeship that must be equal to the Canadian education system (Diploma, Certificate or Degree);
  • At least one year of work experience in an eligible occupation in the past 10 years;
  • Work Experience must be in the field of completed post-secondary education;
  • May be required to provide with proof of Professional Status or proof of eligibility for Licensure for your occupation;
  • Demonstrate proof of settlement funds and also a settlement plan;

Once you can meet all the minimum requirements, the candidate is required to create an Expression of Interest (EOI) profile through an online portal “OASIS”. Once the EOI profile is created, it is submitted into Saskatchewan’s EOI pool with profiles of the other candidates. Profiles that are ranked highest in the pool are then invited to apply for provincial nomination.

Once the candidate gets an ITA, they are required to pay a non-refundable CAD 350 application fee online by Mastercard or Visa. It is the last step to apply online.

What is SINP’s International Skilled Worker EOI?

Submitting an International Skilled Worker EOI is not an application to the Saskatchewan provincial office. It is a pre-application that allows the candidate to fill an online form and show their interest to apply for SINP.

The EOI profile of the candidate will remain valid for one year from the original date created. Once it expires, the candidate is required to create a new EOI profile to remain in the system. Saskatchewan regularly held EOI draws that issue Invitation to Apply (ITA). The number of ITAs issued is dependent on annual processing targets and employment demands. Once the candidate has the invitation, they will have 60 days to submit their completed online application to SINP with the proper set of documents.

What are the steps to apply for Saskatchewan PNP?

One can easily apply for a provincial nomination through the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP). Following are the steps to apply for Saskatchewan PNP:

  • Choose the category to apply under. Candidates have to choose the categories under SINP to apply for International Skilled Worker Category, Saskatchewan Experience Category, Entrepreneur Category, and Farm Category.
  • Create an EOI profile through OASIS online portal. EOI profiles are then evaluated based on the SINP point assessment grid.
  • Higher ranked profiles are then invited to submit their application to the SINP. The candidate will have 60 days to submit their application with a proper set of documents for the provincial nomination.
  • The candidate’s application will then be processed by the provincial immigration office.
  • If the application is successfully evaluated then the candidate will be approved for immigration under SINP, and they will be nominated to the federal government for PR status.
  • After the candidate gets the nomination, it will be reflected in the express entry profile of the candidate. They will have 30 days to accept the SINP nomination.
  • Once a nomination is accepted, IRCC will then invite the candidate to apply for Canada PR Visa within 60 days of getting the invitation.
  • If the candidate meets all the requirements, IRCC will issue the permanent resident visa to the candidate and any accompanying family members.
