The express entry program is categorised into three different programs. The Federal skilled worker program (FSWP), Canadian experience class (CEC), Federal skilled trades program (FSTP) are all eligible to upload their profiles onto the IRCC website.
They receive a CRS score based on their age, education, language proficiency and work experience. The candidate scoring the highest CRS score receives an Invitation to Apply (ITA).
All program entries are different from others as others focus on one program and are program specific, IRCC considers candidates from only one program. In all program express entries all three (FSWP, CEC, FSTP) programs are considered by IRCC.
After receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) the candidate has a maximum 60 days to submit their PR application to IRCC. IRCC processes these applications within 6 to 8 months, after the approval candidate can reside in Canada as a permanent residence.
Under the Immigration levels plan IRCC is aiming to invite 83,000 immigrants by the end of this year via express entry and the target will rise to 109,000 in 2024 and 114,000 in 2025. In recent years PNP has been the main entry pathway for immigrants. Canada’s PNP admission intake target for 2023 is 106,000 and 110,000 in 2024 and 118,000 in 2025. In PNPs the province selects the candidate from the express entry pool after analysing the profile thoroughly. If the province selects the candidate, it adds up to 600 points to the existing CRS score of the candidate, which helps the candidate receive an ITA.
Canada is observing a boom in its number of immigrants after the coronavirus pandemic. Last year the population grew by 1 million for the first time in history.
