Pearson Test Of English will be the third designated English language exam accepted by the Canadian Government for Immigration purposes along with IELTS and CELPIP.
A new English test has been approved by Refugees and Citizenship Canada for Canada’s Immigration process. Applicants will soon be able to submit the Pearson Test Of English ( PTE ) for their Canada Immigration application. As per IRCC, candidates can take the PTE exam by the beginning of the last quarter of the year 2023. Pearson has developed a new test format for Canada Immigration.
What is the Pearson Test Of English?
PTE Essential is the new exam approved by IRCC as a new English language test exam for Canada Immigration. Earlier only IELTS and CELPIP were approved by the Canadian Government. To date, IRCC has approved five language tests for the Canada Immigration process in economic class applications.

What score will be required in PTE for Canada Immigration –
Pearson has developed a new format ( PTE Essential ) to meet the requirements of IRCC for Canadian Immigration Applications. This new testing exam can be beneficial for many aspiring applicants. The score will be converted into the Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) to calculate points in the Language Factor. For the Federal Skilled Program minimum score requirement is CLB 7 .The minimum score requirement in certain programs is CLB 4, However, the Canadian government operates more than 100 programs for Economic Class.
When can I submit the PTE exam –
IRCC has not confirmed any date when applicants will be able to submit exam results for their immigration process. As Pearson Essential has already been approved, it is anticipated that it will be accepted from the beginning, Late 2023. IRCC has mentioned on its website that it will be in a position to accept by the end of 2023.
IRCC doesn’t have any preferred exam, Candidates can appear for any exam as per their will.
