Canada has announced a new measure to help prevent the spread of COVID-19

Candidates in this class must also submit an EOI profile in order to be considered for a provincial nomination through the Labour Impact Category.

The 21 candidates who were encouraged throughout the Business Impact Category on November 19 needed a minimal EOI rating of 85. These invitations were issued under the Work Permit Stream, which will be for foreign entrepreneurs who wish to own and run a company in PEI.

At a press release, the Canadian government said the decision to suspend travel from the UK is because of the reported spread of a new strain of the coronavirus from the United Kingdom.

The Canadian government has spent $40 million to encourage the Canadian COVID-19 Genomics Network to help study genetic variants of COVID since it evolves.

The new travel restrictions are in addition to the ones Canada has had in position since March.

Though some fresh immigrants, foreign workers, international students, and relatives are exempt from the restrictions, most other foreign nationals are not able to travel to Canada over this period.

With few exceptions, those entering Canada are subject to a compulsory 14-day quarantine.

Canada originally saw its fresh COVID-19 cases summit in early May before successfully containing the virus during the summer. Case counts have soared as September and Canada has just recorded around 7,000 new cases per day, in comparison with the spring period summit of 2,760 instances on May 3rd.

Last week, Canada began the biggest vaccination campaign in its history together with the rollout of this Pfizer-Biotech vaccine. So far Canada hopes to get at least four million doses of this vaccine at the end of March 2021 which will be sufficient to vaccinate two million individuals. Additionally, Health Canada is now in the process of reviewing other vaccine candidates for approval.
