Canada caps off the year with 107,350 invitations issued to Express Entry candidates

The minimal Express Entry cut off score dipped marginally from the previous two rounds on December 23. Newest express entry draw invites candidates for permanent residence in Canada.

Canada encouraged 5,000 immigration candidates using a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 468.

The new CRS requirement is only slightly lower compared to previous draw on December 9, when applicants had a minimum score of 469.

This draw attracts the amount of Invitations to Apply (ITAs) issued this season to 107,350, a record-high number of invitations.

Today’s attraction was the fourth consecutive invitation around to issue 5,000 ITAs for Canadian permanent residence. There was a constant increase in the amount of ITAs issued in all-program Express Entry draws since September 2.

In the early months of the coronavirus outbreak and amidst the strongest travel restrictions, IRCC only ran program-specific draws. Since that time, and despite the continuing COVID-19 pandemic, the Government of Canada has taken steps to ease immigration procedures for the majority of its applications and to ensure the continuing selection of skilled workers for permanent residence.

Express Entry is Canada’s immigration program management system for three national economic-class applications: Federal Skilled Worker Program , Federal Skilled Trades Program, and Canadian Experience Class.

The highest-scoring candidates get an ITA, they can then use to apply for Canadian permanent residence. Newest express entry draw invites candidates for permanent residence in Canada.

In case of a tie between candidates, IRCC employs the tie-breaking principle . Nominees who had a CRS score of 468 or more within this draw required to have filed their Express Entry profile before June 4, 2020 in 13:39:44 UTC so as to receive an invitation.

Today’s draw continued a trend that has witnessed the cut-off CRS score decrease in each of the last four draws. This tendency may be explained in part by the routine, two-week interval between attractions that IRCC has maintained since September along with the large number of ITAs which are being issued lately draws.

With Canada’s recently announced high admission targets for its 3 applications managed by Express Entry and its own Provincial Nominee Program, which is also partly managed from the Express Entry system, Canada has issued a record number of ITAs in recent draws. This year is the first because Express Entry’s launch in 2015 where the range of ITAs has exceeded 100,000.

Quite a few Express Entry-linked provincial nominee flows have been busy in recent weeks.

Express Entry candidates who receive a provincial nomination are given an extra 600 points toward their CRS score and move into the front of the lineup for an ITA.

These 600 points are especially valuable to candidates with lower CRS scores who have yet to create the cut-off at a national Express Entry draw.
